checkin' in

just wanted to drop by my old site -- i sure enjoyed this blog when i had it, but things move on.  *sigh*

move along

wow -- i really cannot stand that advertising up at the top.  yuck.

just thought i'd check back at the old playground.  not much here, and nothing going on.

i like my google site, but probably would prefer to just use my livejournal site -- for some reason i don't.  maybe one of these days i'll just do everything on livejournal.  we'll see.

moving along ...

the ball rolls on

okay, here it is two months later and i still have people looking at this blog.  that's okay but it's a little like looking at a black hole don't you think?  oh well, whatevah...
05/03/2006

wtf?

i haven't written anything on this blog in more than a month.  during that time i've had more than 1,000 hits to this address.  how curious is that?!

cool man, so cool...

okay, since i am settling into my alternate universe over at lj, here is the address -- http://kphiker.livejournal.com/ -- it can do some things 'spaces' can't and 'spaces' can do some things it can't.  if it turns out to not be a good move, i'll be back *snerk snerk*.  otherwise i'll catch you on the flip side/in the alternate universe/over at lj.

until later ...

Yay Older Son!

this is another example of my frustration.  i had this great entry about My Older Son and it disappeared.  grrrrrr ... here is the essence:

congratulations are in order for My Older Son -- he got a notice that he passed his PE exam ... and on his first try!  this is like getting a master's degree in the world of engineering.  (and, like typical engineers, the test-givers checked and rechecked to make sure there weren't any problems with the test or the answers, with the outcome being that the participants had to wait THREE MONTHS for the results!)

MOS has always been adept at handling things that interested him -- since mechanical engineering has multiple fields, his expertise is growing exponentially ... he is going to be an even more valuable employee than he already is.

way to go, babe, way to go!

is this good-bye?

well, i just wrote a really nice paragraph saying that i was going to be blogging on my other (not 'spaces') site since i'm miffed about this one.  i 'published' my entry and when i went to look at it, it wasn't there!  ha!  proving that it is time to move on (aka away).  if you don't know the site address of my other blog, let me know and i'll e-mail it to you.  *dumb f#cking bastards*

oh good grief

well.  this is interesting.    msn has made massive changes to 'spaces' and we are left to find out for ourselves.    i couldn't even make a comment on dau-in-law's blog until i had made some changes to my personal profile.    wtf?    anyhow, unless these things were just quirky today, you will need to fine tune things before everything seems normal again.    caveat user ...

fantasy series

Robert Jordan’s Wheel Of Time series is such a sorry sack of sludge, and it’s really too bad.    the guy has an enormous imagination -- you could believe his world actually exists since it is so well fleshed out.  but he has a gazillion characters, and since a lot of their names start with ‘s’ ‘m’ ‘e’ or ‘a’, it just gets plain tiring having to work at keeping them all straight.

his characters also suffer from a fatal flaw: they're unheroic.  the men are immature, easily fooled, naive, don’t learn from their mistakes, have ignorant ideals, and let women lead them around by the nose.  the women are untrustworthy, back-stabbing, vituperative, manipulative, hateful, scheming, sneaky, bad-tempered mega-bitches.  again, it's tiring.

i don’t know what jordan’s home-life was like when he was growing up, but if his female characters act like the females he grew up around, i feel really sorry for him.  regardless, reading his books makes me feel negative and depressed, so that’s it for him.  i won’t be reading him anymore unless his stuff comes out as Cliff’s Notes.
